I have read the 1.1 release notes MEDIAPORTAL - free media center - MediaPortal 1.1 ALPHA - Released that says one of the reason for switching the default DB to MySQL is it "◦uses less system resources than MS SQL Server". At that time the 2005 Express install did not work in Win 7. Now that Express 2008 install works with Win 7 what is the recommendation on DB server?
I have heard other people say that in general MySQL runs well on Linux but on Windows systems MS SQL runs better. Besides the memory usage has anybody compared the performance such as execution speeds of the query's MP uses?
