Synopsis::

TV just decides to start showing static. I've come home several times now to watch recordings and the only thing I get is static (audio and video).
----------
More details... If memory serves, I believe this was working under RC2. I had to update to some CVS to fix a bug (I don't recall which one at the moment). And ever since then I have this issue. I've tried several of the late RC2 CVS versions, and a few of the post RC3 CVS versions to no avail. It was less troublesome under RC2+CVS.

I also rebuilt my system about two weeks ago when I added a pair of 250GB SATA drives, so this is a pretty clean install (the previous install was very old, since XP first came out). It does work some of the times, and I can't quite get it to "reproduce" the error on command.

The only other odd thing is that i have 2 monitors setup. MP kinda pops up on one monitor or the other, but it will work OK no matter which display it opens on, just be a little slow and use more CPU if its not on the primary display.

The way that i fix it, is usually closing and re-opening MP once or twice or in a few cases reboot. It is fairly aggravating tho when I expect a show to be recorded (UEFA Champions League today) and I get home and all I see is static...

You can download the entire (lengthy) logs here:
MediaPortal.txt
recorder.txt
vmr9.txt

Note: Today MP was supposed to record a few episodes of Star Trek:Deep Space Nine, then switch to the Chamions League game. All of the recordings were static. I did test before i left the house, and the TV was working, then I minimized to system tray.

Any help or push in the right direction is greatly appreciated.

The unusual things i see are:

I've had this same issue on usually one tuner in my PVR500. Next time it happens I'll try get some log files, but it seems to be happening on a regular basis.

The biggest thing with this issue is the frequency. This is what I suggest. Clear out all your logs and remove all your channels. I then would do an auto tune. Once done, make a backup of the mediaportal.log file. Set up all your channels they way you want and then use MP like you usually would. When you come across a static channel, exit out and save the log. Then you will need to compare the frequencies to those of the auto tune log, to the ones in the new log. If they are different, that is your issue. This was fixed like 8 days ago. If this is the case, you might want to do a TOTALLY clean install and then apply the LATEST CVS patch. CVS patches are not meant to be copied over and over into an existing install.

OK that makes sense. I just went ahead and uninstalled completely (deleted folder, etc). Then installed again and applied the latest CVS patch. I set several shows to record today and tomorrow, I'll post back with results.

    Thanks for the help

OK, sorry i didn't finish this earlier, but i just changed jobs (my old one sucked) and I am getting settled in now.

Just re-installing didn't work. So after reading ASiDiE's post again I ran the auto-tune and it has worked great for 2-3 days now.

The problem was that I have used the "Import from TV Guide" button to setup the channels. I have used the same tv guide since (i think) 0.1.3.0  simply because it was a bit of a hassle to type in ALL of the channels. So i bit the bullet, and after the auto-tune renamed all my channels and VOILA! success!

So far so good, everything seems to be working great right now.

Thanks to those that posted with hints :D
