Hey guys,
i wonder if you can help me..
Im from the UK

im having realy trouble getting media portal to view tele quickly.. it seems to take along time to change channels and even lock on to some..
id like to add that when using DigiTV its flawless... quick channel changes, its great.
Why am i not using digi TV ? because i love the idea of Media portal and would love to get it 100% !!

Im using the modified drivers that surfermc kindly gave me and that is all well! (although it took about 40 mins to search for all the channels, which i thought was way to long)

Anyway do you have any ideas as to how i can speed up the TV section of media portal? also i cant seem to get a TV guide EPG working...!

my system is
XP Pro SP2
Athlon 2800
512 RAM
2 X 80 gig HD
Direct x 9.0c
media portal (latest that i just downloaded this morning)
DigiTV nebula card
MCE remote control

Any guide would be greatly apreciated!!
thanks

fabpab,

Have you installed the lateat svn? I've found that channel switching has improved a lot from the baseline 02.2RC4 with all the fixes that have been implemented by SVN.

How long is long for channel switching. I've foundmine to be slower than DigiTV but not that slow. I also have a Sony Freeview TV which is not that quick t changing channels so may I'm just used to the slow pace.

Have you had a look at WebEPB . To me this seems better and I get 14 days instead of the 7 days with Freeview.

The SVN builds are accessed from the MediaPortal home page. Top right "Quick Links" > Nightly SVN Builds. That will take you to this page.

Follow the instructions to the letter and enjoy

The reason channel changing & scanning are slow is the not so hot BDA driver implementation (BTW: I find 1.032 beta drivers better than 1.036). The DigiTV app uses different drivers which are much better.

I am seriously considering getting rid of my Nebula & getting an MCE certified TVcard/TVstick because of this.
