I have exactly your same situation: only in some channels i get the TV image resized in 2/3 of the screen, with ffdshow.

I tried in the correct size channels to crop the image and using a resize of 1280x1024 and a zoom of 3-4(in crop/zoom) I can crop black borders from TV image, the problem is that with my configuration and ffdshow I get a TV that is no more fluid, it has some stops every 2-3 seconds...

So, I disabled ffdshow but the problem remain...how to crop black borders from TV Images?
