Hi everyone

I am having a lot of trouble getting my newly purchased Hauppauge WinTV Nova T USB 2 to work with a progam called MediaPortal. The program is supposed to work with BDA compatible drivers and my USB2 card is on the list of supported hardware but it wont work!

I started by installing the latest drivers from the Hauppauge site (v 25c) and the WinTV application. It scanned for channels and worked fine if a bit stuttery. I then installed Mediaportal v 0.2 RC4 and it detected the TV card, successfully scanned for channels and found the same cahannels as the WinTV application. The problem is, when i go into the MyTV section there is no picture - just a black box where it should be. The EPG works because i can see whats on now and next and can bring up the Tv Guide.

There are lots of Video decoders and i have tried all of them but none of them work, i have:
-Mpeg2Dec filter
-DScaler Mpeg 2 Video Decoder
-Moonlight-Elecard MPEG2 Video Decoder
-Nero Video Decoder
-Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder
-InterVideo NonCSS Video Decoder for Hauppauge
-CyberLink MPEG Muxer

I even went to the Hauppauge site and downloaded the MCE compatible drivers (v 31D) to make sure they were BDA. I removed all the drivers and installed the newer ones. The WinTV application from the new driver set wount run saying a library file like "hcwp2p32" could not be found. Accordind to windows though, the hardware had been properly installed. I ran the Setup program for the WinTV application included with the other drivers - it installed and worked fine as before.

I then tried using MediaPortal with the new drivers and tried all the video decoders in turn but nothing worked!!!! The EPG still worked but i was getting a black box with nothing in it instead of a TV picture.

I downloaded and installed a program called GBPVR which also detected the USB tuner but wouldnt run because it said i need to update the EPG but when i tried to do that and scan for channels it would find nothing!

I am really in need of some help here! im going mad! Has anyone got these to work and if so what are your settings?

Any help would be welcome. Thanks in advance.

At a quick guess, the video card. Google seems to say its a DX7 card so this wont support VMR9 (rendering method used by MP). I cant imagine the UI being too speedy on there either (MP needs a DX8.1 card minimum).

cheers mate. My laptop is very old lol and i have just bought a replacement and it works apart from one minor problem - there is no EPG!

The EPG works in WinTV200 but there is no EPG in the program at all!

    This is my new setup:

    Area: Media Portal Program
    MP Version: v 0.2 RC4
    Skin: default
    Windows Version: XP Home SP2
    CPU Type: Core Duo 1.66GHz
    Memory: 1024MB
    Motherboard Chipset: unknown
    Video Card: NVidia Go7300 512MB
    Video Card Driver: 82.93
    Video Card Resolution: 1280x800
    Video Render Type: VMR9
Video Codec Type & Version: all available
Audio Codec Type & Version: all available
TV Card: Hauppauge WinTV Nova T USB 2, model 93000
TV Card Type: Software Decode DVB-T
    TV Card Driver: v 25C

So close yet so far! If you can advise me on how to get the EPG to work then that would be awsome!!!

    Thanks!

Have you enabled the 'Grab EPG' Function in configuration? You may need to switch to a channel before it grabs the EPG but I dont know much more than that. Our stations dont broadcast an EPG so Ive never used it.

yup, ive got "grab epg" enabled and ive selected english from the languages. Ive also selected all the channels in the "settings > my tv>epg" from within the program itself. Ive tried changing channels and it still doesnt work?!

Anyone else with my setup have any luck?

    Thanks.

Select all languages for DVB EPG. I was having intermitent problems with EPG on DVB channels, for a week I wouldn't get any data, then it started to work and then not. A couple of weeks ago I selecter all languages and it's been working fine since them (fingers crossed :) ). But I suspect that, at least in Spain, DVB EPG isn't completly polished and sometimes they broadcast bad data or no data at all (seen some problems on DVB stand-alone tuners as well).
