I've recently decided to turn the machine I've been using as a file server, into a HTPC. I've spent the past few days digging through reviews on the web, including going through the different TV Tuners and Remotes on newegg. When I find one that I think will work for me, I find out something bad about it. I need help and a nudge in the right direction.
First, here are my system specs:
2.4 GHz Celeron Single Core
~1 Gig RAM (PC 2100)
Windows XP Pro (SP2)
Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 Pro
SB Live Sound Card
What I want:
ATSC Tuner (Preferably with QAM, but not a deal breaker, as I currently do not have cable)
Compatibility with XP (non MCE. Preferred that it is also compatible with Vista, for when I eventually upgrade)
One that will work with MediaPortal
Remote control that will work with XP (I prefer that it's RF rather than IR, but I can live without. Bonus points if it has mouse control, but again, I can live without).
Preferably, I'd go with a bundle that includes the remote and TV card, for about $100 USD. If it's suggested that i buy them seperately, I'd still like a price around that point.
So does anyone have any suggestions for an HTPC n00b?
