Nero Recode MP4 Support (1 Viewer)

Hey.

Thanks for the great program - really an ideal software choice for Media PC's - Appreciation and Thanks to ALL developers.

I noticed there is no support for chapters in MP4 files created from a DVD using Nero Recode. That is AAC audio / AVC codec.

I am I perhaps wrong or could this please be added.

This is my personal opinion.

Have been using Nero Recode for last 15 months, Quality and sound, brilliant (once sound patch installed).

Sorry but never been a chapter person, if you sit down to watch a film, has a beginning and an end and that's it.

This would be so low on the list of needed fixes\improvements, i would at this moment in time vote no, for the need of it.

You do know that MP4 files can also have menu's attached to them - Example, Main Menu, Scenes, SubTitle selection etc - If you know how and have the time, you can even put an entire DVD into 1 MP4 file - Bonus features and everything.

Other than that I can see your point, it's not a big "selling" point at the moment. But surely it can't be to hard and time consuming to implement. I understand that with DVD it's different - there are sets of libraries for DVD's only, however I'm sure the codec/Windows API has a method to simply check if chapters are support and add a feature to do it.

Not trying to be pushy, I really love to use MediaPortal and was just trying to supply ideas and thoughts to help the software evolve - Help outdo that trash that is WMC.

Perhaps there could be a poll somewhere to see how many people are interested in using the chapters in MP4.

.mkv supports chapters, use it

I use nero recode which creates .mp4, so .mkv is of no use.

So does Nero, and recoding 300+ DVD's is not practical, doing it once was bad enough.

Changing the .mp4 extention to any other video one ie .avi or mv4 allows a lot more funtions within MP, ie FF\Rewind and skip buttons work correctly, now would like to see this fixed, and then maybe chapter support implemented.

maybe so, but you can just demux+remux which isnt a lengthy process

mp currently supports .mkv chapters, thats what i was referring to

hi,

i have the same problem but it would be really hard to demux all of my mp4 (nero recode) movies or to change the extension. i hope the team will fix this.
