Thanks again for the comments... there only seems to be about £10 - £15 difference between an 8 port DLink & 8 port Cisco. Also, if SpudR is happy with Cisco (and knowing his Yorkshire virtues ) then I am more than happy to go down this route as a trade off between hassle/cost.

You're absolutely right. I am very happy with my speed over two cheap dlinks but with this small difference in price I would go for cisco too.
