Im planning to have tv server, tuner cards and media portal client running on one htpc located in my loungeroom. The HDD in this pc would have the operating system, and also tv recordings stored on it.

I was then going to have all my movies, music, tv series etc sitting on hard drives in my office PC. Then i dont have to have my office pc running 24/7.

Both PCs will be sitting on the same internal LAN, connected via ethernet cables.

Does media portal have any problems with streaming this data across the network?

Any suggestions on how to get the best performance? Id like to be able to stream 1080i/p movies to the htpc in the loungeroom.

No issues with mp but you are dependant on network speed for HD. Wired should be fine but gigabit wired would make sure

    Helllo,

I have here at my home 4 network connected clients on my server. if you use wifi it's not possible to stream full HD 1080 and HD tv recordings. Everything else works. Wired 100 connections plays all and ofcourse gigabit lan also. if you use more clients i sugest gigabit on server is a must have.

    good luck
