Message: <blockquote data-quote="Paranoid Delusion" data-source="post: 259033" data-attributes="member: 13176">Hi allJust thought i'd let you know about fitting one of the thermalright HR-05 IFX SLI Northbridge Chipset Heatsink.If i had only known how hot the DFI NF4 chipsets run from new (70+C), would have got this originally, not waited until the fan sounds like a wasp in your ear.Changed from the plastic pushfit mountings the original heatsink\fan came with, this neccesitated removal of motherboard from case to (a) remove old pins (b) feed screws through and keep hold of whilst tightening bracket which holds heatsink in place, this is the fiddliest bit, once you have applied the supplied chill factor thermal compound, trying to hold the heatsink in place whilst you put the bracket over the screws and then fit the nuts is a nightmare, as just about everything moves to where you do not want it, and you think bang goes the compound being evenly spread.Finally everything fitted in correct place and tightened, clip is sprung so you need to be careful you do not overtighten,Sidenote, moved one of my HDD's to another bay as it was in the way, the bonus side was this allowed my front fan to channel air straight past the HDD's mounted top and bottom  and blow straight onto the heatsink.No noise, ah peace and quiet at last <img src="data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7" class="smilie smilie--sprite smilie--sprite8" alt=":D" title="Big Grin    :D" loading="lazy" data-shortname=":D" /> Temps old  heatsink\fan 70-85C depending on load, these have been since new.Temps Thermalright new 40-50C Transcoding video for 6 hours continuous, hoping this may drop once compound has cured.Hopefully someone may find this of some encouragement to do, i know it does'nt mainly relate to htpc's which most modern motherboards have fanless heatsinks as standard anyway, but for a older Motherboard that may need resurecting, feel its a must.</blockquote>
