New FireDTV S2, no HDTV in MP and constant issues with channel switching! (1 Viewer)

Hi there,

just bougt the new FireDTV S2 because it said that it is working well under MP and the CI is supported.

Good news:

Works with the FireDTVViewer, channel scan, HDTV channels, CI works. No problems whatsoever with this )

Now in MP I got major problems:

The HD channels are not working at all, when i select them i just get a black screen, no audio/video. I can switch to another normal channel again so it is not really crashing but hangs for quite a while before you can switch again! What could be the problem here? I tryed coreavc (which still got the screen zoom problem) and powerdvd ultra decoder......with both no audio/video. What am i doing wrong? I had the skystar hd two days ago and the hd channels worked fine there, same setup within MP!

normal SD viewing:

Channel switching is a pain inthe a..., it takes ages and always repeats the last 1-2 sec. of the channel i am switching from! sometimes i switch to the next channel and it plays back the last timeshift files ....what the hell?

I know that timeshifting can't be turned off....but it really makes the whole thing soooooo slow and unnecessarely "heavy"...turning that off would speed up things by a lot and make it less buggier some would think...hmmm.

What is really annoying is that the audio/video sync is not good with some channels, and when using mpa decoder i get the stereo sound from all my 5.1 boxes instead of just the front ones...i can't seem to change that too since using any other audio decoder for tv i get errors or even no picture at all, tryed setting ac3 filter but it is beeing ignored. any ide here?

So anyone who can help me out with the firedtv s2 settings or a developer here knowing what to do?

System setup:

both MP and tvserver SVN'S as of 2 days ago, RC3 of course.
Athlon x2 4200+
Ati 2600xt, Catalyst 7.9
Asus a8n sli nforce4 939 socket
Powerdvd ultra 3104a

I am thankful for every help possible...MP rocks and really works fine....except TV :-(

Thanks a lot, that helped a lot regarding switching times and the repeat problem is also gone
Still i don't get the hd channels and sound still comes from all speakers although stereo program.?

Sorry, cannot say anything about the HD (as I myself don't receive any HD channels to test). The sound issue is most likely related to some audio codec settings.

Catalyst 7.2 works with MP, after that there seems to be issues with the newer ATI drivers, apparently still not fixed in 7.10.

There are posts all over the forum about this, ATI have also been advised.

Strange, everything except those hd channels are working, and it worked with the skystar hd card....ati 2600xt cards need at least ctalyst 7.8 so thats not a solution.....

Increased my timeshift buffer to 2000mb and so far no problems...

Though channel changing seems to take slightly longer. This is with the tsreader active.

Can I downlaod these 7.2 drivers anywhere? I've searched a lot, but can't find them , only newer ones......

do you have a codec that suports hd deconding?
e.g. powerdvd 7?
in addition you have to setup the codec for use with h264 in mp tv setup section.

sure, i posted my specs in my first post, using pdvd ultra 3104a for h264 playback, also tryed avcdecoder...nothing. no pic no sound for hd channels...using the same codec within dtvviewer and it works fine! specific MP<->FireDTV S2 problem?
