What is the full type description of the plasma? I also have a 42'' Panasonic Plasma (PV7F). The Panel has a native resolution of 1024*720. So i suppose you are upscaling far too high. I use a NVIDIA 8500 based video card which produces a very nice picture. It's connected via a DVI to HDMI cable and i use no up-/downscaling in ffdshow at all. The Windows XP screen resolution is set to 720p and only had to adjust the screen size a bit. It works really great with the NVIDIA pure video codec :)
