Im an old meedio user and i just got done trying out sagetv for the extent of my trial period. It was alright but the menu browsing was a bit too slow for me and it really wasnt as customizable as id like. I also tried out beyond media for about 20 mins.....
anyway, i just did a fresh install of the latest version of mediaportal but it doesnt seem to like my machine.
The main menu loads fine and i can scroll through all the options (this uses about 10-25 percent CPU) but as soon as I click on a menu item it will freeze MP (with about 70-100 CPU load) until i press the escape button to go back to main menu. I let it sit for about 10 minutes to see if it would eventually load anything but all it loads is the plugin menu.....even settings menu doesnt work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no success. Any idea whats going on? I really want to start tinkering around with this prog. Thanks.
oh yeah, im logged in as admin and UAC is completely disabled. latest ATI drivers, latest bios, latest DirectX, ect.
what i mean by freeze is it goes to a blank blue screen and just displays that with no menu. If I put...say...internet explorer over that and alt-tab back to MP it will show whatever page on IE i was looking at until I esape back to the main menu.

I tried 0.2.2 and MP seems to be working a bit better. I added my /music directory (about 500 albums) to the database. They all have clean id3v2 tags (and only id3v2) with embedded artwork in every file. The menu seems to only be capable of showing me the "shares" view...which shows me my physical file structure ignoring id3 tags. Also, (and I dont know if this is normal) in windowed mode the text in the taskbar is constantly changing between "MediaPortal - My Music/shares" and "MediaPortal - Home"...that causes the GUI to flicker and refresh.
Im not new to the htpc scene and ive setup many pvrs and other frontends before but Im at a complete loss for what could be causing all of this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
All these same problems still exist if I do a full uninstall...delete the directory out of /Program Files and reinstall.
