have been using GBPVR, and recently Vista MCE but found former non too stable and latter too limiting.

so, might get time to install Media Portal tonight.

before I do, has anyone got any tips that might save me valuable time?

appreciate any application tips for a newcomer (am sorted with drivers/codecs etc.)

what i will use it for :

live tv - recording series
watching mpg/avi/mkv's
listening to music (occasionally) and viewing pictures

but, as my wife will use it, i'd like a simple easy on the eye front end with no hassle (like MCE, unlike GBPVR) with the facility to use 3 tv cards and record 2 or 3 things at once..

check some manuals that have been created to know how to setup everything. specially for codecs and windows xp updates.

installation is a piece of cake with the new installer program.
