Okay, So I just downloaded MP a few days ago and have been up every night setting it up and customizing it the way I would want and I just have 2 questions that I need help wit. First is I'm having problems playing my MKV files using the built in player, but if I use and external player (Zoom Player) it launches just fine. I have the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack) installed and whenever I click on a MKV file to play I can see Haali in the system tray load like it's going to play the file and then nothing happens. I don't know where I else I need to turn for this one.

The other question I have it that I have all the Cover Art for some of the Anime Series I have already placed within their folders (Since I was using Windows Explorer to sort through all my anime before MP) and wanted to know if there's a way I can have the cover art in MP just pull up the image from within the file instead of searching online since some the series can't be found or the wrong cover art is sometimes downloaded from Amazon. :D

    Hey and welcome!

#1: Check if your files play in Windows Media Player. If so, they "should" play in MP too. If not, you need to check your codecs. mkv's should play fine (at least they do for me).

#2: You have a info-grabber within MP. Just use context menu and OFDB (or what you set up in config) to search for your show. Other option would be to use the MyTVSeries plugin (here: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/my_tvseries-f162.html), which has pretty advanced options.

Thanks Stig for the tips. I actually found an easier way to get the DVD covers to show in Media Portal. I just went into the folder and changed the name of the jpg to "folder.jpg" and when I launched Media Portal it showed all the jpg covers that I had for each cartoon series.

As for playing the darn MKV's, I guess I'm just going to have to play around with the settings until I get it right. I uninstalled all my codecs, re-installed CCCP and tried my MKV's in Zoom (they worked) in WMP (they worked) and then Media Portal and only a couple would work (like maybe a couple videos from one series and then none of the others). Don't know what else to do excpet to continue messing around with it. Thanks again.

I have a ton of mkv files and some play fine in MP and others just refuse to play. Media player opens and plays them all fine so I'm at a loss to why they don't open. A browse of the error file doesn't seem to give much away either.

is VS filter enabled to autorun in haali config (should be), also double check that .mkv is listed under MP config\movies\movie extensions (again should be by default if using 0.2.3.0)

If not, uninstall cccp, run filmerit, repair if neccessary, reboot and try the Vista codec package (XP compatible).

Ok, here's the log file I get. Obviously the file isn't called xxxxxx.mkv but you get the idea. I have plenty of mkv files that play just fine and they all just contain h.264 video as far as I can tell. They also all play just fine through media player classic etc.
