I need some help you guys. I've been using media portal for about a month or so now, running it on my laptop and connecting it to my tv. it works great, but now i want to get a tv tuner and start recording live tv. Do you all have any suggestions on external tv tuners (and if they are any good at all, including the HD ones). Also I only have 512 ram, so i should upgrade to at least 2 gig from what I hear right or will the 512 do. I have a 300gig external harddrive so storage space is not an issue. Thanks in advance everyone...

512MB should be okay (too many factors to calculate), there is no harm in giving it a shot anyway. 2gb is more than enough, I have 1GB in my HTPC, and I only really chose that over 512MB because I wanted to use dual channel memory and 2x256mb packs are hard to come by around here.

I am sorry for crossposting, I was just trying to make sure I was in the right section of the forum. Does anyone have any ideas on good cardbus external tuners that are supported by MP. I just bought the Avertv cardbus and it is working but not with MP. Help please

No problem.

A hint to get best support for your concern:

If you want support for your AverTV cardbus tuner, i suggest you open a new thread about it with a descriptive topic in the hardware support section.
As this is a completely new concern and not related to the rest of this thread, you are free to do that, of course. Using the proper topic in the correct section you can be sure to get an answer if someone knows a solution for you.

Don't forget to fill in your system specs when posting. This makes support much easier. But you'll see that as soon as you start your post there. Also describe your problem there as good as you can, including the steps you did so far.
