Hey folks, I just discovered MediaPortal and it looks really cool!

However, I have a few questions about my PC specs before I begin installation...

Windows XP Pro with SP2
Celeron 1.3ghz
768MB RAM
10GB System drive
120GB Media drive #1
40GB Media drive #2
nVidia Geforce FX5200 Ultra 128MB w/TV-out (AGP)
D-Link DWL-G520 rev.B 54g PCI wireless
generic 4-port USB card for peripherals
Microsoft MCE remote (no MCE keyboard)
regular PS/2 keyboard/mouse
NO TV Card.

Can I still run MediaPortal without the TV card, using only the videos/music stored on my PC, hooked up to my TV and using only the MCE remote?

Also, when I plug the MCE remote into my PC, XP does nothing to let me know the device has been recognized... is this normal?

MediaPortal is NOT installed yet...

Thanks for any forthcoming help/advice! :D

if the drivers have already been installed, then yes.
easiest way to check is look in the device manager, you should see it listed in HID devices, and in USB devices.

Ah, I'll have to look and check on that...

Should see listed as "ehome infrared receiver" under USB devices.

This will not control the MCE keyboard, which is a updated version of the ehome receiver.
