new to MP -where to start (1 Viewer)

Hello

In next few months I will buy new htpc. I have heard very good comments about media portal but now after I read through MP webpage I'm lost.

At this moment I just want to test MP on my desktop pc so when the time arrives to set up HTPC I can quicly install MP. I do not know where to start, what to install first..., how must set I up MP to work without issues.

I will use htpc for dvd, blu ray, x264 movies, mp3, flac music and maybe some simple game...
I will not be using MP for tv programms.

Is it difficult to set up MP for this tasks. How did you start? Is maybe out there any step by step guide to set up MP.
I can not find it.

Maybe start with reading the wiki: MediaPortal manual It would give you a good overview.

Also read the Requirements page, as it should you avoid any issues once you've installed.

Here's what you need to download to get started: MP 1.0 RC3

if your not using TV, you can just select that option when installing.

Lastly once your installed; Goose's codec guide may be of use. (not sure if its up-to-date with latest MP release)

Sure if you've any problems once your up and running, someone can help.
