New user moving from myhtpc..help! (1 Viewer)

I'am a new user moving from myhtpc aka meedio that now was bought by yahoo awhile ago, anyway...i want something different, but i noticed issues trying to setup this software... btw i read the manaul and faq nothing helped!

1. how do permanently tell mp to ignore that i'am using a skin that incomputable with mp its the Project Mayhem 3 skin, i want to use it but not have to click ignore every time.


2. what is the best remote to use the ati remote wonder (org.) or the hauppauge grey top remote and how do i get them working properly with mp?
also do i used the ati plugin here: http://www.youngtech.net/software/ati/
for the remote?


3. how do i get get more then one location of media files to show up in one "display name" (i.e. x:\tvshows , \\network\tvshows, etc....) To make it look like it came from one location.

4. also will the default player play everything like vlc can? i understand mp uses that codec in ur system but i'am still a little confused on mpv & mpa is all about


5. why every time i delete stuff in mp setups folder area that was added by default like the cd/dvd drive or drives b/c i'am using 120% they come back after i run setup each time??

6. is this away i can use alcohol 120% , b/c i dont have demon tools install i have 120% installed....?



Well i hope you can help me, and hopefully fast, but i'll but greatful to get anything answered in time i would love to use this software, but get it setup in a week or so..thanks for that help coming my way!

Welcome to the Mediaportal community

To fix the skin warning message, open the Project Mayhem skin folder and open "references.xml" in notepad.
Look for the following section at the top of the file:

<controls>
<skin>
<width>1280</width>
<height>720</height>
<version>0.2.2.1</version>
</skin>
------------------------------------------------------
and change the <version>0.2.2.0</version> to suit what you need.
i.e. <version>0.2.2.1</version>
Just make it match what is displayed for the Blue Two skin.

I believe both are supported - the AIW-remote is a X-10, I belive (see setup -> remotes).

You do need the codecs (FFDShow will most probably do). I believe you can play whatever you like as long as you have installed codecs for it, and added the file extension in MP-config.

There are plugins like VLC, and recently MPlayer for a "codec-free" enviroment

MPV is for streaming MPEG1/2-video. MPA is for MPEG2-audio streams. Just like MCE you need MPEG-audio and video stream codecs - the difference is that with MP you can use these free codecs (unlike MCE, that only supports commercial codecs).

what the playlist thing about in the movie setup section? playlists? how do u make them what is it for??

Ok Nevermind, I Just Found Out Number 3 Isn't Possible, I Guess Ill Come Back Hope That It Will Be Added Feature Because Thats Very Important, And I Know About The Ways Around It, But There Not All 100% , So Nevermind.

Kinda a showstopper for me as well. There really needs to be better "library" support like what Meedio uses. Just makes good commonsense.
