New Video Card for HDMI output: ATI or NVIDIA? (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I want to buy a cheap video card for my Mediaportal-HTPC just for the HDMI output port because my onboard adapter does only have VGA out.

However I read some horror storys of video cards not using the native full HD resolution with HDMI on a Full HD screen, but using underscan, displaying black borders etc.

Which drivers are better for getting the full resolution, ATI's or NVIDIA's?

Thanks for any hints,
Oliver

For some reason there seem to be some people who prefer this and some that, from a technical perspective I have no idea...
For the last few years I've had only had ATI Radeon cards and I'm happy with them and would get another if build a new machine. I like you use HDMI for audio/video.
So my vote falls on ATI Radeon.

Another vote for ATI cards and drivers.

Used them for many many years without issues and thoroughly enjoying an HD7750 with impecable HD 1080i50/60 @1080p and SD without problems.
