Newbie having a few problems (1 Viewer)

Hi,

i'm having a few problems with playing an AVI on Win media player and media portal.

i ripped a film using magicDVDripper, tried to play it on media player and i had sound just no picture.
tried to open it through MP and the attached message came up...

I downloaded VLC media player and it runs fine. (could this be used as default player on MP? if so how?)

any suggestions how i could get it sortred on media player or any dvd ripping freeware i could use that would be fine with Win media player?

Looks like you need to install some codecs

cheers for your reply, no sooner than i read it though started working? strange....

one more question if anyone can help...

i've ripped the same film from magicdvd ripper and DVD decrypter... its sooo much better quality through dvd decrypter but it has saved the film in 4 seperate files. any idea how i can link them up?
