Hi hilfer: We did try to make the purpose of My Films clear in the first post in the release thread under 'What it is' and 'what it is not' and also on the My Films Wiki Overview page (the one that says' Please Read First' ;)). However if you can give us some tips how to make it clearer, we would really appreciate it. As Guzzi said, the main focus of My Films is for film buffs who have invested a great deal of time already developing their movie catalog/library. Often these catalogs include DVDs, BRs or videos like documentaries etc that are not easily scraped via the internet. Such users do not wish to create a whole new database and duplicate their data for Moving Pictures, especially when not all movies may exist on their hard drive. My Films is really intended for users who manage extensive movie catalogs/libraries, often using them outside MediaPortal as well. Thus it offers a great deal of customization. Perhaps one thing that is not that clear is that you can take My Films for a 'test run' by installing the sample movies database during install. These are mainly dummy movie files, but you could add a few of your own by copying them to the Sample Movies folder (MediaPortal\thumbs\MyFilms\SampleMovies), then running a Global update > Update DB in My Films (or in AMC Updater) to add them to My Films and see how it works. About Griffith - is it still being developed? Last update I could find was 2009 and no website. If there are a lot of users who request support for a movie catalog, we can always look into adding support. If you have an extensive database in Griffith, and it is no longer being developed, you may be able to export it and convert it to one of the movie catalogs supported by My Films. Thanks for bringing that up!
