Hi!
Sorry for making this absolutely silly question, but I can't guess a good search phrase to lookup it in your forums.

After installing Mediaportal 0.2.2, it scans the entire drive for mp3 and videos. But when you select the "Music" button, the Archive view only shows you either the "My Videos" directories or a list of external drives. "Title", "Player" and "top 100" buttons show nothing.

So, why does it scan the drive, if it seems to do nothing with scan results? Is there a menu item I'm missing?

    Hi,

    there are two scans. :)

    1) The scan of the Configuration-Wizard just looks for folders where media is stored and adds those to the shares.

    2) In the Database tab of music or videos you now can scan the files of the shares and add those to the database. This second scan fills the database with the metadata and now the other views (like title) within MP should show more information.

    HTH,
    Flip.

OK, that seems to be right.

Testing it I see this in "Mediaportal - Setup":

    Tree "Music\Music Database":
I can check to scan any of my CD/DVD drives or the "mymusic" folder.

    Tree "Music\Music Folders":
I can scan any of my CD/DVD drives or the "mymusic" folder, despite of initial scan finding music in other folders. But at least I can add a new folder. THANKS!

So it seems the solution is, as you see, adding shares to the database manually.

I still wonder what prevents mediaportal from automatically adding folders to the "Music Folders" and let the user decide wich ones add to the database. I have to concede my music folders are out the "C:\Documents and Settings" hierarchy. Is this the reason?
