Hello,

I've only been using MediaPortal for a couple weeks, I'm not even sure what version I'm running (how do I tell?), I downloaded and installed MediaPortal / TV-Server 1.0 RC1.

I seem to have most of it up and running, and pretty impressed with the UI, but having a few problems with recording and playback of tv. Results are inconsistent, sometimes it will record fine, but there will be no audio on the playback. Sometimes I'm unable to FFWD playback, and most often I get ghosting on the playback.

I'm guessing this is down to the codec, I'm currently using the ATI MPEG Video Decoder (although I also tried the MPV Decoder Filter) under the Television settings for both MPEG-2 and H.264. Which is used for playback of recorded TV?

Is there a better codec to be using for this?

I'm using CCC 8.45 that came with the ATI 3450 card, I tried CCC 8.6 but fullscreen tv went blank with this driver.

I'm also finding changing channels very slow, not sure if this is normal, but sometimes up to 30 seconds before new channel appears?

Any assistance appreciated.

Yep, I see that seems to resolve a few problems, I might give it a try. Do most people use the ATI codecs for tv recording and playback, or something else?

For MPEG2 for me NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder Retail 1.02-185 is the best.
But please also try others.
For MPEG4 (h.264) I use PowerDVD 8.

OK, the CCC 8.7 drivers seem to be much better. Its been 2 steps forward, 1 step back on getting this going, but I'm getting closer. Now to get EPG working......
