Ok I've spent an hour on the forums and you're all too clever for me so at the risk of appearing stupid here goes....

I've been using MP for playing music/DVD's etc and it works great on the whole. I'm now looking into adding a TV card but am rather confused about the typoes available and the application of these types. As far as I can tell you list a number of types: H/W,DVB-T,DVB-C,DVB-S,ATSC, software and Hybrid cards. I understand DVB types but am confused about how the hardware (H/W) cards differ from these. I understand software cards should be avoided and I don't know what ATSC is.

If I tell you what I would like to do possibly you can advise me. I have an analogue TV ariel, a digital TV ariel (reception for ITV is poor where I am though so I can't yet fullt commit to digital) and a sky plus box. I fancied purchasing a dual tuner card but am not sure what I need to be able to access the terestrial and digital ariel signals and also how the satellite signal will be received into my pc (is it just a cable out of the box?).

I was looking at the Hauppage PVR 500 but cannot fathom whether this will service all the incoming signal types.

Thanks to all those who, when they have stopped laughing, offer me some constructive advice.

Regards

Jim
