Love the look of MP, love the idea of a non MCE media experience.
But am regrettably getting to the point of, horrors, returning to MCE.

  • Audio worked for TV, now doesn't, EPG completely wrong, 3 seconds between changing channels
  • Playing films with Moving Pictures looks great, just wont actually play any films
  • My TV Series plug in, jittery, unwatchable
  • some plug ins cause MP to crash and have to be removed, plus jiggery pokery to get it back.
How do we get the front screen, when MP first turned on, to show: MP TV Series, standard TV, Moving Pictures Films ONLY, no music, pictures etc...and if possible, adjust the Logitech Bluetooth KBD key strokes to map better to the set up?

Am running Win8 on a well set up PC using HDMI to the reciever (and on to the TV, both Samsung), Radeon 7770 video card.

Hopefully these are all my set up errors but help and advice will be appreciated.

Cheers, not wanting to give up yet!!

    Hello and welcome tannistoo :)

I'll try and answer the first question...

Audio worked for TV, now doesn't...
This is almost certainly a codec thing.
    I recommend you:
    1. Use the MP Extension Installer (MPEI) - link on your desktop - to install the LAV codecs.
    2. In your configuration here:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...nfiguration/9_Codecs_and_Renderer/1_TV_Codecs
...set all options except audio renderer to LAV. Set audio renderer to default directsound.

    ...EPG completely wrong
MP doesn't change the EPG, so I guess this reflects the accuracy of the EPG source you're currently using.
I've heard mixed feedback about Aussie over-the-air EPG, so if that is what you have you might want to look at alternatives.
Try searching the forums for threads from other Aussies like this:
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/re-launch-of-mp-epg-downloader.70198/
    https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/what-is-the-best-fta-epg-for-oz.112470/#post-963103

    You could also try this:
    http://support.icetv.com.au/home

    ...3 seconds between changing channels
The biggest controllable factor in channel change time is the zap timeout setting:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...al_Configuration/13_GUI/6_On-Screen_Display_*
(Make sure to enable viewing of advanced settings - see the top right corner of MP configuration.)

So, try entering the channel number with leading zeroes (ie. 001) or reduce the zap timeout.
The other thing you can investigate is the HDD you're using for timeshifting. Ideally it should be a separate drive from the one that contains your operating system. Some people use an SSD or RAM drive.
