solution for ac3 5.1 wmv-hd Had the same problem here and solved it just today after days of troubleshooting, got my self a bunch of knowledge of codecs and filters in the process :) The reason you won't get 5.1 is simple but not obvious: most WMV-HD files do not contain DTS or DD audio tracks but just 6 (5.1) channels of wma/wmapro Audio. Your reciever will most probaly not recognise wma/wmapro audio and also AC3 filter cannot decode wmapro audio so some other installed default filter will decode it to stereo and put it out to your default directshow audio device (probably your spdif) resulting in stereo on your reciever. Now to resolve this you will have to chose a decoder in mediaportal movie config that supports WMA audio and apply a filter that recodes the 6 channels to something your reciever can handle. I used the default installed MPA Decoder as decoder. and added AC3 filter as movie post processing filter. So you need to select MPA Decoder as your movie decoder and add ac3filter as filter under movie post processing in media center config tool. Within the AC3filter properties configure pass through DTS and AC3 to spdif and under the system tab be sure to enable Encode to ac3. This way real DTS an DD will be passed to your spdif unchanged and the decoded wmapro 5.1 audio will automaticly be reencoded realtime to Dolby Digital 5.1. Also be sure to enable auto matrix under AC3filter config, At first i had it disabled causing me to get 2 channel dobly digital :(.. As an alternative you might also use ffdshow as an decoder and filter or a combination of ffdshow and ac3filter, but i haven't tested those yet. Good luck and let me know if you need any screenshots, I might consider writing a small guide because it seems there a quite some people out there having spdif output problems with media-portal.
