    HI!

I've a very annoying and curious problem. If I enable the option "prefer audio over language" I get AC3 sound but channel switching needs 4 seconds more. If I disabled this option zapping speed is ok but I've to choose AC3 manually.

    Any idea what's wrong here??

Most team members use ffdshow-tryouts as audio codec for everything. I can hardly notice any difference in zapping speed between mpeg and AC-3 channels (in fact the AVR needs more time to switch the surround mode).

    Hi rtv!

If I choose ffd as my audio codec there's no differenz. AC3 is used, but channel switching needs 7-8 sec. sometimes 10 sec.

I guess it happens on one of your machines which do NOT have a realtek audio chip?
Try to ask Asus for better drivers then. If even ffdshow is that slow there must be another problem...

NOT have a realtek audio chip?

    It has ...
    Realtek ALC662 Azalia CODEC

    It is an EeeBox B206.
Maybe there's a hardware defect on the board ... I've really no idea what's going on here.

    But, thx for your help.
