No AC3Filter icon when AC3Filter selected (1 Viewer)

Kind of follows on from my earlier note.

I have the MP codecs installed + Haali and AC3Filter installed.

Using WMP for .mkv's all play well and AC3Filter icon appears. I have set the Video codec for AC3 in MP to AC3Filter but it doesn't show in the in tray. I have jacked up the gain to see if it still works but generally it doesn't. Sometimes it does but still doesn't show the icon.

The only way to guarantee it does appear and work for the intended purpose is to add AC3Filter as a Video Post Processing filter.

Whilst I can leave it all as is it would be good to understand why it's a bit temperamental.

Thanks
Michael

AW: No AC3Filter icon when AC3Filter selected

    Hi.
I have set the Video codec for AC3 in MP to AC3Filter
    ???!!

The AC3Filter is an audio-filter only! I uses them since ... I think the first version.
You can and should set this filter as the default audio device and you will see the icon. BTW MP runs normaly in fullscreen, you use it in a window?

And please fill out and show your sysspecs for more and easyer help.

Yes sorry. I have set the Audio codec for AC3 as AC3filter.

I am aware it runs in full screen but if you play a movie then close the screen down you see for a split second any icons relating to the video just stopped eg. FFDshow, AC3Filter or Coreavc etc. Originally I used to be able to see the icon but now only see it if I add is to video post processing.

When I remove from post processing any changes I make, even boosting gain to max, has no impact.

If you run MP in windowed mode (alt-enter) play video, then run graphstudio, select connect to remote graph, you can see what filter is being used by MP.

Thanks Ray. I tried this the other night. ALT-ENTER gives me a windowed MP that freezes for a while but after 10secs or so it can be navigated and can watch TV or Videos. The issue is that when watching a video or anyting in this mode all other commands like launching a program or clicking on 'connect to graph' just appear non responsive. When I close Mp things work again.

I will try a few more things like disabling Aero and see how I go. I run an Acer Revo 3700 Atom ION2 based unit.

    Hi mawhite

I think disabling aero will make problems for you so I wouldn't recommend that. Does the MP window ever lose focus when you were trying the other commands?

The MP window retains focus and all other stuff is below. I do recall changing setting in MP config to always make on-top (as I wasn't sure what it did) so I might change that to see if it makes a difference. It's just like having a windowed MP makes all other actions useless. Can't even open a browser window.
