No Audio In Movies (1 Viewer)

I have run the gamut of HT media centers: XBMC, Vista Media Center, Moovidia, MythBuntu, MythTV, etc. and I'm trying Media Portal now. They all seem to have different issues.

My Media Portal problem is that I get NO audio in most videos (AVI, MKV, MP4, etc.) unless I re-encode them, which is a PITA. These videos all work in Vista with Media Player, as well as in XP with VLC and other players. They also work in my HTPC under other media centers. Since Media Portal is using the Vista codecs, it seems like one of them would work, but I've tried them all. Are there codecs that are incompatible with Media Portal? Which ones should I have for Vista 32-bit? I installed the FFDShow and Haali Media Splitter codecs. These are the only ones I've installed in this new Vista install.

Some help would be greatly appreciated and I can provide more info if needed.

Which audio-decoder did you choose in Config?

I have tried all of these, which are the only available ones:

MPEG/AC3 audio decoder:
MPC-MPA Decoder Filter
ffdshow
Microsoft MPEG-1/DD Audio Decoder

AAC audio decoder:
MPC-MPA Decoder Filter
ffdshow

I noticed some others in the website's CODECS section and will try those. Can you recommend?

I to am having this exact same issue and I've installed the same codecs on vista as well. They play on anything outside of Mediaportal...

I discovered that since I had moved the files that were once lumped together into folders that this was the reason they wouldn't play. I moved them out and they play again. Maybe there is a cache that is looking for the original location or something? It appears that NEW files that are in folders work, but not old ones I moved.
