I have all my media stored as avc/ac3 contained in mkv, these files played in wmp and mp fine (i was under the impression that mp used wmp) but due to a glitch with mp and tv-series and the mediainfo.dll i decided to update mp and all plugins (1.0.2.0 to 1.1.1.0), i seem to have lost the ac3 audio in mp, my tv streams work fine which are mp2 audio i think and the mkv files play fine in wmp, i've checked through the logs and theres nothing obvious (i will attach tonight, i'm on a different computer) i have removed the mp default filters (mpa and mpeg2dec) as they cause dvd playback to fail and i have set mp to use the correct filters in the config. i've spent quite a bit of money on the cyberlink filters hoping to remove any codec problems please help!

I suggest the use of SAF (4 or 5).
It's the best solution to be able to read everything (video and sounds).
Uninstall all your codec and install SAF, configure it like Hoborg suggests it in the SAF post and that's all...

i've actually just fixed it, the issue was that both the hd264 pack and the powederdvdse codecs from cyberlink contain an audio decoder (the same infact), removing the hd264 audio decoder using codec sniper solved the problem.

i haven't actually used saf, all my media is either mpeg2/mp2 in ts from tv or mpeg2/ac3 in dvd or avc/ac3 n mkv, so i prefer to keep a limited selection of filters for months i couldn't play dvds because the mpc mpeg2 filter supplied with mp completely broke dvd playback in wmp despite not acutally being the filter in use!?

and i invested money into the hd264 pack when it was my only option for hardware accelerated h.264 playback and so i'd like to get my use from it!

thankyou for your reply tho!

Hi,
I have a flyvideo 98 Tv tuner card. Does anybody know any HTPC software which supports it?I can only use AmCap at the moment which isn't good for viewing.Media Center 2005 and Mediaportal both don't work.

If you have not solved this, you could look into one thing. Startup MediaPortal, press alt+enter, MP should is now not fullscreen, check if sound for the MP is set to 0, this happened to me, WMP worked fine, but not MP. I don't know how this happened but it can.
