Hi i wonder if someone can help me..

i have been installing and configuring my first htpc over the last few days and i am using media portal. however i have a problem with audio from with in media portal

if i play an mp3 from explorer it plays fine but from within MP i get no sound the same thing happens with certain AVI's.

however i do get sound ok from x264 files within MP

i am using the coax optical out from my board for audio.

i have installed the following codecs and utils.

ffdshow
Haali Media Splitter
CoreAVC
Cyberlink PowerDVD

Have you installed FFDshow tryouts?
First time I installed I told it to do all programs and just ran into problems, re-installed with just the defaults and everything worked fine. Also check MP config, you can use the standard MP codec and tell it to do "passthru" so no conversion is done and your amp gets pure AC3/DTS from the source file, may have to check the system audio settings too . If you have already done this check your amp can receive the output signal ie: dont output DTS if your amp can't accept it. I think FFDShow also has a "passthru" setting.
