No Data in TV Guide (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I am trying to understand how the EPG works. I have done various mappings, tuning and downloading but I keep getting the no data message for all the channels while watching TV in Media Portal.

I have the latest version of Media Portal with a Dvico FusionHDTV card. I have just tuned the digital channels for now (will do the analog later). I have successfully built the TvGuide.XML file in the Program Data folder (this is on Vista). I am using mc2xml for download and I can see the file has program information in it.

I then activate the xmltv plugin and do the channel import and mappings for a few channels just to see the programming information in TV Guide but I get nothing. Is there something I am missing?

When you did your channel mappings did you click the save button? i.e. if you were to reload the tv server config and go to the mappings tab and click 'Load/Refresh' are they still there?
First time round I did this I forgot to save and then it didn't import.

I'm also using mc2xml and they only other change I made was to make sure the 'Apply timezone compensation...' checkbox was not checked, prior to this it didn't import.

I am saving it. In fact, I just tried doing everything again. And it showed up for a minute. Due to other things, MP crashed and when I restarted it, "No Data Available" again. I think it is some kind of a bug. Otherwise why would it show up once.

I guess it takes a while to populate in SQL database. I think yesterday's save showed up today. And because of the save I did today, it wiped out everything and started again (resulting in my momentary flash and then no data again).

When I tuned analog channels patiently and then did the mappings for the 97 channels (mostly done automatically) and then I started watching TV I started seeing the program data show up *slowly* from channel 1 on down.

Its working! Thanks for your help.

Now I need to find out how to change channel names and add channel logos.
Then I have to do remote key mappings.
Finally I have to setup commercial removal (comskip) and then I would be in DVR nirvana.

Glad you got it working, although it sounded like you had the normal epg grabber running, which most likely would have deleted your existing mc2xml epg entries and replaced them, which would explain why you got the 'no data available' and then why the epg slowly started appearing.

Really? I think I unchecked in the options earlier. With so many configurations you can never be sure.

Anyhoo, my new problem is to change the channel names. I don't have any idea how to do that. Searching hasn't helped. And when I change them in the confuration utility, they revert right back.. which is *so* annoying because I spent a lot of time editing them earlier in the day only to see my changes disappear.
