No EPG (1 Viewer)

I am using MP TV Server with XBMC. Just now got my first TV Tuner Card. I can get live TV but no EPG. So, I installed the MP frontend and I don't see any EPG data there either. I have no idea how to Trouble shoot this. I have followed the directions on the Wiki, but to no aval.

Hello David

First, if you don't have EPG data in MP then you won't have it in XBMC.

Can you tell us what instructions you followed?
A link to the wiki page would be ideal.

I note there are 3 main methods for getting EPG data for the US:

1. SchedulesDirect
2. mc2xml with the XMLTV plugin
3. WebGrab with the XMLTV plugin

it all seems to be working very, very good... as far as getting stations tuned and I can see them/record them in XBMC, but I am in EPG hell. I setup webepg, I manually mapped some stations, I am only using OTA so I don't have many. I clicked "Grab Now" and it wen through and it all looked successful. When I open MP to see what is there, I don't have any EPG data for the ones I just "Grabbed" but I do have some for a station I don't want.

Did you do the mapping in the XMLTV plugin as instructed in the later part of the wiki guide?

This is necessary in order to tell TV Server which guide channels go with each scanned channel. It is the same for both WebGrab and mc2xml...

I don't get it. Im not using XMLTV, I'm using webepg. If it is really this overly complicated to setup MP TV Server. I will use an other backend.

That not the "grab" that I was talking about. I have now spent almost 5 hours trying to get any EPG data from MP.

I had already installed NextPVR as a backend. I hate their EPG but at least it works. I was really hoping I could get some of the things that yours had to offer. But, it just can't be this damn hard to get it to work.

Misread on my part - for some reason I thought you had written WebGrab, particularly since WebEPG is not commonly used for US EPG. Sorry.

I get that you're frustrated. I'm trying my best to help but I'm not familiar with using WebEPG, especially not for EPG in the US.
Even though you're not using the XMLTV plugin, I think the same principle of linking applies.

I take it when you said you had done some mapping you mean on the "TV Mapping" tab, right?
Dumb question: did you save the mapping?
According to the troubleshooting section you have to save on the general tab before grabbing. That sounds like an easy mistake to make...

Again I'm sorry. There are no guides for using WebEPG in the US in our wiki so your comment had me confused.

I suspect from the fact that you have EPG for some channels (even if they aren't the ones you want) that something simple is not quite right, like the mapping save think mentioned above...

getting US EPG setup is a bit frustrating. For WebEPG try looking at the following to download an updated imdb_com grabber file and do the needed setup. You will need to customize the WebEPG file with your local TV stations.

Thanks for the help. I don't want to sound unappreciative. but, yes it's been a bit frustrating.
