Hi forum,

out of curiosity;

for me the configuration settings inside MP are fully obsolet. It is much more comfortable to make the settings with mouse and keyboard. And it will ever be.
You don't need to have a keyboard on your HTPC. Every Win7 has the remote-desktop, wich is very easy to use. So settings can be done from a "normal" PC inside the network.
Everything should be centralized but the settings should be possible with a remote without keyboard on every single HTPC?! I don't understand that. Why this is so important that the many people ask for that? There are so much other possible improvements for MePo- don't waste your time with that ;-))

I ask myself if I'm the only one thinking like that, so let me know :)

Thanks for reading

    With all respect: The features that the devs spent their time on is their decision, because it done in their spare time. It's not their full-time job to do any MediaPortal coding.

    While I understand your opinion, that you don't need this kind of configuration many others do. And, in my personal opinion, it makes no sense to start a remote desktop for switching a skin.
    Nevertheless, we also know that many people would like to configure MP2 through and external user interface, be it because of usability or they don't want the kids to change the settings via remote. Whatever. We expect there will be the possibility to do this sometime, without given any expected dates. (for related infos see this thread)

    Regarding the "feature request": this is rejected because we won't remove anything that many people like to have.
    Your argument about saving time is not valid for the MP2 configuration and settings management. Settings are defined once and then only registered to the configurations plugin which renders these. There is nothing todo for us to make a new setting appear there, getting it loaded and saved correctly. It's a huge difference to the MP1-way of saving/loading settings a few years ago (not sure how it is done there currently).
