I don't know for what purpose, but I see that they are changed during the creation of the music database and when the file is played in MP. A bit odd I think.There is no extra information about the lyrics hidden anywhere besides the lyric text that is stored in the lyrics.xml. You can modify the xml as you like as long as the structure of the xml still is valid. I don't believe building a new lyrics.xml will change anything.
