Hello!
A few days ago, I switched my sound setup, so that I could use my 5.1 system für watching movies.
Until that, sound was working great using the HDMI-Output of the AMD graphics.
The Sound system is connected via analog output to a Creative X-Fi Extreme Music which is set as the systems default sound device.
I did a complete reinstall of MediaPortal and tried nearly every combination of codecs available but there is still no sound. Every other mediaplayer I tried (Media Player Classic HC, Windows Media Player, VLC) is just working fine.
Does anyone here have a clue how I can solve my problems? I would be glad if I could use MediaPortal again...

Did you check Mediaportal configuration, has it been configured for your sound card? Did you try SAF 4 & 5 (after uninstalling all other codecs)? Just some basic things that you probably have tried, but you didn't really mention.

Yes, triple checked the configuration, everywhere the "Default DirectSound Device" is set up to use. I even deleted the whole configuration but nothing changed.
I also tried SAF but since it did not change anything I uninstalled it and reinstalled the other codecs (Whith those, sound was working before I switched the sound device, so they should be ok.)

Rather than the default directsound device, I'd recommend selecting the Creative device. I know this is not ideal, but it will tell you whether the problem is with codecs or sound being sent to wrong device.

    :)

I had to laugh at that one... but only because it is a fair point! The shortcut key for turning mute on and off is m.
