My HTPC consists of:
ASUS P7H55-M PRO,
4GB RAM
Samsung TV
YAMAHA RX-V440 for audio.
OS: Win 7
MediaPortal (MP): version 1.2.3
For playback audio the S/PDIF port is connected to my ampliefier with optical cable.
Foobar2000 playback of Audio files/disc works. Settings: audio output redirected to S/PDIF. Out Realtek Digital Output (Optical íhigh Definittion Audio)
PowerDVD, MPC-HT, VLC Player, OpenSubtitlePlayer: playback of DVD/BluRay disc or mkv file ok. (Audio: output: S/PDIF, Audio renderer: Realtek Digital Output Optical)

Problem: Media Player
No sound when watch TV channels.
When I play back DVD disc within MP (Play disc): No sound.
Playback the recorded channels/file. No sound
Exception:
When play disc within MP: audio playback: Ok, sound is Ok.

The hw is properly connected and settings in other media players are ok because:
If I playback the MP recorded file/channels with VLC player or MPC-HC, it also play sounds, too.

Current settings in MediaPortal Configuration:
Codecs and renderer:

MPEG2-Video decoder: Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PVDV9 UPnP)
H-264 video decoder: Cyberlink Video Decoder (PVDV9)
MPEG/AC3 audio decoder: CyberLink Audio Decoder (PVDV9 UPnP)
AAC Audio decoder : CyberLink Audio Decoder (PVDV9 UPnP)
Audio renderer: DirectSond Realtek Digital Otput (High Def Audio)

TV Codecs:
MPEG2-Video decoder: Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PVDV9 UPnP)
H-264 video decoder: Cyberlink Video Decoder (PVDV9)
MPEG/AC3 audio decoder: CyberLink Audio Decoder (PVDV9 UPnP)
LATM AAC Audi decoder: MONOGRAM AAC
DD+audio decoder: Microsoft DTV-DVD audio decoder
Audio renderer: DirectSond Realtek Digital Otput (High Def Audio)

DVD Disc/Images Codecs
DVD video decoder: Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder (PVDV9 UPnP)
DVD Audio decoder: Cyberlink Audio Decoder (PVDV9 UPnP)
Audio renderer: DirectSond Realtek Digital Otput (High Def Audio)

How to make setting to:
Have sound when watching TV Channels?
Have sound when playback recorded channels?
Have sound when playback DVD disc?
Thank you for any help in advance.
Zoltan

    Hello!
Could it be that MP is muted?

    To check this:
Open MePo in window mode -> Play a music file, a movie or LiveTV -> Open volume mixer in windows taskbar

    See:

    Hi,
The MePo was muted then I un-muted.

    Please find screen-shot attached.
If I play audio disc the volume indicator is in green and sound is OK.
Still no sound, any other idea?

    Zoltan Nagy:
Sorry for long time no response! You could try to use -> Audio Renderer: Default DirectSound Device.
Else you could try to use a different audio decoder.
    Thanks!

    Thanks, the setting::>
    Audio Renderer: Default DirectSound Device
it works now. There is sound.
Why I wanted to render/direct to DirectSond Realtek Digital Otput (High Def Audio)?
Because I want not to encode by the plug-in of MediaPortal but the Amplifier itself.
I want to play back DTS audio disc, as well. At the moment only sizzling can be heard. I want to send digital signal via cable and let it encode by the amplifier.

Ps. I also have other problems/questions and go for checks or write new threads.

This is possible with Default DirectSound as Audio Renderer too. It is just a Audio Codec setting -> Just tick passthrough for DTS/AC3 in the audio decoder settings.

You are not alone with this problem. I think there are some threads about it here.
