I have an ongoing issue where MP 1.6 (and prior versions) doesn't seem to know to turn the lights out when leaving a recording or live play. I have the following tuners:

2 x ATI Theater 650 (internal PCI-e)
2 x UB435-Q (External USB)

At any given time one of the four tuners is left active (On) as indicated by the LED lights on the USB tuners. When the ATI tuners are left on I cannot tell of course except when MP or WMC tries to access the tuner and finds it 'Busy'.

I looked through the Forum but could not find anything specific on this issue where a tuner stays on all the time as MP doesn't shut it down when done. Sporadically, the tuner that is 'On' will shut down momentarily but then come back on. It spends most of the time in the 'On' state.

I have the EPG Grabber set for 3:00am so it should not be grabbing all day long (I would think). Rebooting PC or bouncing the TVService shuts down the tuner but, then starts right up a few seconds after restart. This can certainly wear down and eventually kill tuners.

Any suggestion(s) would be appreciated. Thanks.[DOUBLEPOST=1390866552][/DOUBLEPOST]On reviewing the Server Log Files (new at this) - I think I see that the EPG Graber is the culprit (?). It seems to be grabbing when I have it set to grab at 3:00am but it does it all day long. Assuming this to be correct... how do I control it so it only grabs when scheduled..?

SOLVED: Looks like disabling the 'Grab While Idle...' did the trick. Is this an acceptable measure..? Or does it harm anything else..?

    Hello

For anybody reading this in the future...
There are two main reasons why TV Server would continually use or block a tuner:
    1. Idle EPG grabber enabled.
    2. "When card enters idle state..." set to pause.

People with ATSC (US/Canada over-the-air digital), clear QAM cable, analog cable, or CableCARD tuners do not need the DVB EPG grabber enabled. It will not get you any EPG so you can safely disable both the idle and timeshifting EPG grabber.

    Hope that helps... :)

Thank You MM..! Babbling to myself did help to figure out problem but your reply added a few more tidbits to completely clean up issue. With multiple recording schedules (tuners) working, tuners shutting down nicely, WebEPG IMDB version updated/resolved & working and especially UB435-Q tuner issues resolved I am so totally in love with MP over WMC - for more reasons that I can count. Now I can massively test MP with 4 tuners scheduled and consummate the relationship. Thank you again MM for your dedication and continued problem solving solutions.
