Hi everybody!

I am new to MP and this forum. Honestly, I am quite dizzy from reading threads and posts about this topic, uninstalling and reinstalling MP, reading logfiles, guessing what the root cause might be ... and so this new thread seems to be my last chance before kicking my hvr 1100 into the trashcan ...

The server config tool detects my card propperly and I have also gone through all the steps for configuring a hybrid card into a group. Scanning for new channels brings good results as well. After scanning for analogue channels I have a list with all channels I typically receve here in Munich.

Next step is to click the Preview button on the channels tab. Then a few seconds (regarding to the log file it should be about 15 seconds) simply nothing happens. Then an error message appears: "Preview failed:NoVideoAudioDetected".

When trying to start TV in MP I have the same problem with a different Error Message: "unable to start timeshifting -- No Video / Audio detected".

The log file tells me, that there is no Audio. So I assume, that there is a problem with the Audio Codec. I have tried them all ... without success.

Has anybody of got an idea, what else could help?

Kind regards for now and many thanks in advance
Basti

problem happened to me once when I was using custom recording folders and had entered an incorrect folder name. Are your folder specifications correct?

    i have the same problem

I have seen several people that have this problem, and I have yet to see someone identify this as a problem or offer some help. I would like to see someone, with some post, say that they had this problem and what they did to fix it. I've been going 3 weeks with this now. Very frusterating. I can watch tv on my server machine, but not the client machine, No audio or video detected.

i guess i have a similar problem with this card.

i tried the inbuilt tv engine, but i just get a 'cant create a graph for this device' message

and if i go the tvserver route, no audio/video is detected.

but if i read this correctly...did anyone get a simple analgue input (working in wintv) with mediaportal and this card?. it's driving me crazy...

or can someone recommend a working analogue card with the same dimensions as this one?

    Hi guys,

as far as I can estimate our problems, they don't seem to have the same root cause.

jchamber408: If you can watch TV on your server machine but you can't on any other client you are one essential step further than I am. I cannot even view TV with the preview button in the server config tool. You may consider checking your network environment, firewall settings, etc. Could you please let me have a look at your codec configuration? Which Audio and Video codecs are you using?

Boiler: yesssss, it is absolutely annoying! I had the same problem using a 0.2.xyz version of MP about two years ago. Now I´ve been hoping that the 1.0 version has made things more easy ... maybe buying a new TV-Card is the best solution. I am still wondering if the fact that our good old hvr 1100 hasn't got a hardware MPEG Codec is the key of all the trouble. Then, buying a card with an onboard MPEG Chip might be the solution ...

    What do you guys think?

    Cheers
    Sebastian

    @ etheesdad: :D
Good idea. I am going to check this. But: when I start a recording a zero-sized file is beeing added in the specified directory ... for me, all this indicates codec problems ...

    :D again!

yeah a lot things do point to a codec issue. i mean the card is being recognized, channels are found. the card (video and audio) works perfectly in wintv.....but if the codecs were the cause, why does it still not work when using the wintv codecs in mediaportal?

nah, i think i'll buy another tv card (may be the pvr 150). all i need is analogue anyway, no need to get complicated with hybrids and what not...

The incorrect folder issue was the cause for me. I was getting the novideoaudiodetected error because I had my timeshifting files set to a folder which didn't exist. I changed them to an existing folder and it worked straight away!

    Thanks
