I've been working for three or so days in an attempt to get Mediaportal to work with my current setup, but it appears a no-go. I do have an unsupported card (Hauppauge HVR-1600), however, and Windows Vista, the 32-bit variety, so I should probably have suspected it wouldn't work. I only continued to try because the latest snapshots seem to actually detect my tuner card (Both the analog and ATSC). The problem lies in rendering video to the screen from either. If I go to My TV or scan for channels, it finds the channels, but I get a black screen with most codecs, and a grey one with my systems default (Whatever that may be) No audio ever, either. I really wanted to give Mediaportal a try, because I'm all about the open source, but if worse comes to worse I can continue using GB-PVR and check the snapshots for Media Portal from time to time. I get the impression that my problem lies with codecs / filters on my computer, of which many were installed from k-lite as well as the numerous other PVR applications I tried out. To get GB-PVR working required a lot of codec tweaking, but eventually the Cyberlink that comes with Mediaportal seemed to work (Odd that it doesn't work in Mediaportal, though.) I searched the forum and found a few posts with similar setups, but not similar problems. Some of those folks seemed to have at least gotten Mediaportal partway functional with the HVR-1600. But for those of you who haven't, care to link our collective brains and figure out how to fix this?
