Hello everybody! :)

I am experiencing noise, hissing and sounds like "digital artefacts" when playing some of my MP3 files in MP.

I connected my Yamaha RX-V2500 via digital ouptput of my Terratec Aureon 5.1 but also tested with the onboard Realtek AC97 on the Asus mainboard.

Playback of these files outside of MP works fine. Playback in MCE also works. I tested Winamp and Windows Media Player, too. Works like a charm! But as soon as I try to play these files in MyMusic of MP I get those strange noises etc.

I tried the normal and the BASS player of MP without success. What else could I do? Problem only occurs in MP. :(

MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3.0 RC1
Windows Version: XP MCE SP2
CPU Type: P4 3 Ghz Northwood
Sound Card: Terratec Aureon 5.1 and onboard Realtek AC97 tested

German Version:

Ohne Erfolg.

I experienced something similar with flac files. What mine turned out to be was I needed to make certain that my sound card and my Home Theater receiver were set-up the same i.e., if my sound card was set-up to output 5.1 then my Home Theater receiver needed to be the same way. The worse was when my Home Theater receiver was set for stereo and my sound card was set for 5.1, the "artifacts" were terrible. I aligned the setting and perfection... Hope this helps.

The sound card is set-up to send stereo via the spdif optical output and the receiver is correctly identyfying the stream as PCM stereo. :( All options in MP are set to stereo and downmix to stereo on spdif. Anyway the receiver is very reliable in detecting the digital stream.

If that was a sound card setup problem it must also appear with any other player software than MP but it doesn't. Seems like some filter problem as soon as MP is part of the game.

Addditional question:

Is there any other player software or filter for music playback that I could integrate in MP to test the problems a bit further?

Now that sounds great! :)

Thank you. So these programs are loaded in the background but operated via MP? Very nice. I'll do some further reading here to find out how exactly it works and then I'll test it. :D

:D again.

With Winamp playback of the files is perfect.

Tested ffdshow and BASS again: ffdshow is the source of the problem, I can reproduce it! With BASS it is 95% perfect. Winamp adds the other 5%. Playback is more vivid with WA.
