I have been searching around haven't come up with anything.

Are their any products for pc's like the DVB-C cards in Europe that will accept the cable TV cards we have here in the states.

So you can watch/record/pause digital and HDTV channels using your cable connection. And not just have analog channels.

Cable or satellite let me know.

Thanks

I'm just about to investigate this. A friend of mine said that out cable-supplier offers digital cable on the same connection (socket?) as the analog. Don't know he got it all right. But if he did, I'll be getting myself a floppy dtv, because our picture quality isn't all that great.
They (our cable supplier) don't transmit in HDTV yet though :-\
Do you have analog and digital cable at the same time in the same socket?

Edit: After some googleing I found what I was looking for and now I wonder if mediaportal in conjunction with tv server has cable tv channel information? http://crave.cnet.com/8301-1_105-9673232-1.html

Yeah it goes over the same cable lol. :)

The issue is that the digital channels and HD channels are encrypted and need to be decoded by either their set top boxes or a cable card.

Now I have seen cards that can tune into digital stations (non-encrypted) and obviously ones that can tune analogue stations.

So if I am correct the only channels you can get your HTPC directly tuning givin multiple connections and cards are:

Non Encrypted digital staions
Standard 80 channel analogue stations
Over the air stations
Over the air HD stations

No besides the TV being able to natively tune into them I guess you could do video in from a cable receiver or satellite receiver but then you need t ouse two remotes and lose record functionality and what not. That and it would be messy.

So people please tell me if their are Cablecard pci-e adapters much like the ones in Europe that allow you to watch encrypted channels.
