So I just built my first HTPC with XP pro, M.P. and about 1 TB of storage. I read through the MP manual and searched the forums but I can't seem to find out how to begin loading my DVD collection into the system.

Could someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks! I'm excited about this project.

    1. Rip it to hdd. MP will play it if the whole video_ts folder is on disc. Or you can rip it to ISO and use deamon tools to mount.
    2. OPTIONALLY convert it to avi if you want to save space.
    3. Add the folder(s) to video folders in the configuration program.

Plugin to show recently watched episodes?

I'm looking for a plugin or setting that will automatically color a recently watched episode. This color would then slowly change over time to another color. So like if I had just watched a show it would show up as orange and then fade over the days to blue. Does anything like this exist? If not, how hard is it to write plugins (I'm a programmer)?

    Hi all,
I'm interested in the same question as the thread-starter :)

    1. Rip it to hdd. MP will play it if the whole video_ts folder is on disc.

What would be the best method to Rip a DVD so that it stays inside its video_ts folder ? Is there any software that does this or do i just make a plain DVD copy ?
(i've tried a Rip using Xvid, Gordian Knot, VirtualDubMod, BeSweet etc, making a 2CD size rip of Serenity, however i was not really conviced with the result. As i'm going to upscale anything i'll watch on my HTPC with ffdshow resize to 1360x768 now and later to 1920x1080, i think i need a fairly good quality in order to keep a nice image ?)

I use DVD Shrink to extract the DVD to harddisk. You can extract the whole DVD or only select the main movie. And that with or without compression.
