I have a dustly old AverTV 98/Stereo that I am looking to upgrade. I have a few questions. What type of card do I need. Will all cards do PAL+NTSC, or do I need a specific NTSC chhipset. I've seen tons of cards for british and australian digital, but can they decode North American digial signal? And if so, do I have to be a digital cable subscriber, or can I grab the digital signal off the line even though I only subscribe for analog.

radio not a big issue
already have a remote

so, im looking for:
hybrid analog/digital for north america (hardware mpeg)
100% compatable with MP

thanks in Advance

    In America, digital is ATSC.

    Your choices are

    AverMedia A180
    Vbox DTA-150
    Fusion 5 (Gold or Lite)
    ATi HD Wonder

    I use a DTA-150 and a Fusion 5 Lite.

The Fusion 5 has an Analog NTSC tuner on it (I think), but it does not yet work in MP.

For digital and analog reception I would suggest 2 cards, 1 for analog, 1 for ATSC (digital).

Get an Avermedia MCE150 and an A180 or DTA-150 or Fusion card.

I recommend www.pcalchemy.com. I've ordered alot of stuff from them.
