Hi,

I am very new to MediaPortal and love the look of it. I am having an issue with getting my tv card working. I have a Nova-T500 running under windows XP and have loaded the latest drivers, I tested the card using the software that came with the card (WinTV) and it all works fine, picks up channels and I can watch TV.

I then tried to perform the scanning for TV channels in the MediaPortal server setup, it takes ages and comes back with no channels found, I have tried several regions.

After looking there is information about the Low Noise Amplifier being switched off by default but not how to switch it on.

Can anyone help with this please.

Many thanks
Rich

Hi wojciech_ste,

Thanks for the repsonse, I did both those. I checked that my card was working first, with the application provided. There might be a problem with me using XP SP3 as Hauppauge came back saying it worked with SP2 but they didn't know about SP3.

I will try this weekend and update.

Thanks again

    Hi,

I have one of these cards, and it works fine with mediaportal, although I did get crashes with XP SP3. I downgraded to SP2 and all is well.

I have heard about the low noise amplifier, but have no idea how to change the setting.

If you can receive channels with the Hauppauge software, then there should be no signal-related issues which stop you scanning channels with MediaPortal. I would check that MediaPortal and all of your drivers are up to date, revert to XP SP2 (I'd be inclined to do a full reinstall) and try again. These cards are definitely a good choice.

I wouldn't go as far as to recommend the Nova T-500, they cause great many issues for people - it is based on some dodgy PCI-to-USB bridge, which is the root of a few issues. Some people do manage to get it working. I would however, recommend the PCI Nova-T hauppauge tuner, which is a real PCI tuner.
