Will MediaPortal fix my NVidia DRM issue?

Specs:
AMD 64bit CPU
Vista 64bit SP1
NVidia GeForce 6600GT (using TV out to an older HDTV with no DVI)

I'm trying to run NetFlix instant movies and I get a DRM error because NVidia doesn't like the analog out and won't validate the DRM stuff. Will installing MediaPortal fix this?

Is there a NetFlix MediaPortal plugin?

Hopefully this all makes sense.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Dan

MediaPortal can play anything Windows Media Player can. If Windows Media Player wont play your file, then neither will MediaPortal.

MediaPortal definitely does not have any DRM removal!

    Thanks for the quick answer.

Forgive my relative ignorance on the subject, but I have a follow-up question...

So the DRM "portion" of the architecture happens between the video card/OS/output? In other words - it's not MediaCenter that handles DRM, but the video card/operating system?

If that's the case, then that's a bummer.

    Thanks for the help!

Actually, there is a known issue with NVidia cards that will not allow DRM protected content to play (i.e. NetFlix instant movies) if the only connection you have is the analog TV Out.

I was told by NetFlix that I have to hook up another monitor to the card and the NVidia driver will allow the TV Out to play.

It's a pain in my butt - and I can't imagine that my wife will go for the "Honey, we need to buy a new TV so media center will work..."

Looks like I need to get an ATI card... grr.

I don't believe that is entirely true, I'm able to play watch now videos over svideo (with no other video connections) just fine in wmp using a nvidia graphics card.

What are "now videos"? Are you using Vista? What version of NVidia card are you using?

Here's a link to what I'm talking about (netflix DRM Problems [Solved] - NVIDIA Forums).

It would be great if I could get it working, and without a lot of $$$ output.

Netflix watchnow videos played through a custom app that uses windows media player

Windows XP sp3 nvidia 7300le - using svideo

This also works on vista sp1 nvidia 6100 (I've only tested vga on vista)

The only difference that I have seen between xp and vista is that wmp on vista supports setting the currentposition of the video.

I have however seen the problems with the drm... I updated to the latest wmp, used the reset drm tool, you may also need to install their player (but I'm not sure)

Do the videos play using their player or do the videos play using wmp by itself? Over svideo?

Here is a little more info about my particular setup for netflix:http://meedios.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3829&highlight=netflix

I've heard that XP doesn't have the same problem as Vista through S-Video. If you were to try the S-Video out (which I convert to component), it doesn't work.

If you do get the Vista/S-Video to work I'd love to know how!

Thanks for all of your help!
