I'm sorry for asking this question. I must be a complete dolt. What does SVN mean? I've been using MP now for about 2 years and I love it. I actually disabled the Media Center part of XP Media Center to run MP instead. it suits my needs perfectly on my multimedia PC (we don't have broadcast TV).

During all this time, I'm quietly suffered through BSOD's mainly when copying files from my main PC to my multimedia PC. My research indicates the file copy errors are common with XP when moving large files, but I'm begining to wonder if my MP version has something to do with it because I sense more stabilty during the file copies with MP isnt' running.

I recently unloaded MP completely and loaded the RC of 1.0.0.0 MP and TV Servers.

Anyway, this leads me to the question, what does SV mean or pretain to? Could this be the cause of by BSODs?

SVN stands for subversion. It's a type of source-control - meaning it makes it easier for multiple developers to work on a project together. SVN snapshots are just compiled versions of the current code. Each Friday a new build is automatically compiled that has that weeks code changes (bug fixes, etc) included. Basically, it's a way for you to get new features/bug fixes without waiting for the next stable version.

It's possible that if you install an SVN snapshot you could experience some serious bugs (though this is pretty rare) but nothing along the lines of what you're seeing.

You should not be getting BSODs when doing file copies in XP. Ive never had any problems copying huge files in XP.

Sounds like you may have dodgy drivers, or maybe dodgy hardware. It doesnt really sound like a MP problem to me.
