Hi Folks

I am a new user and struggling to find a solution to a remote control issue.

When using a mouse, media controls become available when you move to the top of the screen - just perfect! However, how can I get these to display when using a remote control? (I suspect that I'm being really dumb here.) What I am looking for is the keyboard command to display these controls please.

Thanks for any assistance.

What controls are you looking for? Video controls? Pressing Y will bring up the video OSD. Arrows will skip back and forward. Space will pause the video. B will stop the video. Entering numbers will skip to the specified time. F9 will bring up a menu for any further available options...

I just know that I'm missing something here! :D

For example, when playing music and using a mouse, if you move the mouse to the top of the screen, a row of "media controlling" icons appear from which you can control forward, back, play, etc.

However, if you are only using a remote control, I can find now way of getting these same controls to appear as I can't select the top of the screen. There is no joystick type control on my remote that emulates a mouse - I just have buttons.

If I use the mouse to first display these controls, I can then use the remote to operate them perfectly. The issue is getting them to be displayed in the first place without using a mouse.

what remote are you using? Most often a remote control will mean you don't need the on-screen controls.

Tell us what you are using and we can give more help.
have a look around in the remote section of MP configuration too.
That will show you some of the options.

I'm using an Aiwa remote via uIce. The reason I would like to use the on screen controls rather than replicate them on the mouse is purely one of convenience.

Thanks very much for your assistance - appreciated. I have searched the forums but will try some more.

The "Topbar" (thats what its called) is actually intended to be used only with a mouse, at least I think so. But you can still bring it up (this depends on the skin) by pressing up on the topmost control.

So just go to the highest button and see if it shows up. If that doesn't work, then the skin author did not intend this behaviour and short of changing the xml you cant make it show up.

I'm using the "Blue Two" skin version 0.2.2.0.

Via the remote, I can navigate successfully it seems, but it would be just perfect if I could open and close this Topbar and give it the focus.
