One Movie from HDD doesn't start, others do (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I am using MyFilms for quite some time now.

There is one movie in my collection that just don't want to start. I double checked the path to the source in Ant Movie Catalog. And I also made sure that all the files in that directory a present.

As soon as I hit play in MP the screen goes black. I can stop the black screen by pressing B/Stop on keyboard and remote.

The rest of the movies on my HDD play just fine.

What else can I check ?

Hi Marcus, I would suggest checking if the movie plays from "My Video" or not... it may be a codec problem or settings in MP rather than a myFilm issue.

so, I did some testing over the weekend. The video won't play from the Video Plugin.

I also tested on my bedroom client. Same Video does not play from MyFilms nor from Video Plugin.

Any Ideas ?

Hi Marcus,

as I said earlier, if it doesn't play from Video Plug-in, then we are looking at a different problem, and most probably Video Codec related. First of all, I would find out what codecs are used in the video file. I use MediaInfo ( MediaInfo ) for that.

How are you playing it in bedroom client, and is it playing it? Depending on the player, it may tell you what Codecs it is using to play that video, otherwise you have to use something like GraphEdit to see whats going on.

I hope that makes sense.

ok. I installed MediaInfo to see where the difference between this movie and the others on my hdd are. All movies on my hdd are DVD rips made with DVDShrink. On this particular movie I noticed that there is not only the main movie but also some other title sets.

So I re-authored the DVD structure on the HDD to contain only the main movie.

And guess what ? The movie is playing fine on the living room main htpc and on the bedroom client !
